A Conference for Outdoor Professionals:
SPARC Risk 2002 was a conference for professionals in the outdoor education and adventure tourism industries.
Risk 2002 brought together respected experts from all areas of outdoor adventure and other parts of the world to show the how, whys and wherefores of adventure recreation in the outdoors, and the associated risk and safety management processes.

The aim of 'SPARC Risk 2002' was to:
• Bring risk managers from New Zealand and the world together in a forum to share ideas, teach new methods and create new levels of understanding.
• Decrease the barriers of understanding between the many levels of outdoor programme delivery, either professional or volunteer, administrator or teacher, government agency or club.
• Increase the quality of delivery of outdoor education and adventure pursuits through new found knowledge.
